Edgewater Technical Associates is actively seeking skilled professionals for a Nuclear Safety Analyst role.
Position Title:
Nuclear Safety Analyst
Key Responsibilities:
As a Nuclear Safety Analyst, you will be tasked with:
- Evaluating processes, systems, and operations within nuclear and non-nuclear facilities to ensure safety protocols are met.
- Conducting comprehensive hazard identification, screening, and analysis, along with accident assessments to safeguard public health and worker safety.
- Formulating and documenting safety functions, performance requirements, and criteria for both engineered and administrative controls aimed at minimizing accident frequency and impact.
- Assisting in the creation of essential documentation, including safety evaluations, design strategies, and specialized technical reports.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address safety concerns and requirements.
- Assessing the integration of system safety requirements with design concepts to promote cost-effective safety measures.
- Performing radiological and toxicological consequence assessments.
- Preparing safety basis documents, such as Conceptual Safety Design Reports and Documented Safety Analyses.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical sciences, nuclear engineering technology, or a related discipline.
- Between 2 to 10 years of relevant experience in nuclear safety analysis.
- Experience in developing and maintaining safety basis documentation for DOE nuclear facilities or NRC equivalents.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a DOE nuclear facility or NRC-regulated reactor.
- Familiarity with 10 CFR 830 Subparts A and B and the Unreviewed Safety Question process.
- Experience in radiological and toxicological consequence analysis, with knowledge of DOE toolbox codes for atmospheric dispersion analysis being advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate findings effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance.
Special Requirements:
This position necessitates the ability to acquire and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
