Emerald Youth Foundation has been dedicated to empowering the youth of Knoxville since 1991, fostering generations of principled community leaders. Over the years, we have engaged over 30,000 children and young adults through various community initiatives. Annually, we serve more than 3,000 youth in Knoxville, focusing on faith, education, and health.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the driver involves operating Emerald Youth Foundation vehicles for afterschool pickups, summer camp transportation, and travel to sporting events as part of our youth ministries. This position may also include extended field trips and other necessary travel. The driver is responsible for ensuring passenger safety, reporting any issues, and maintaining awareness of routes and vehicle condition.

Schedule and Compensation:

  • Typically operates Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the academic year, with potential for extended hours based on trip requirements.
  • During summer months, the schedule generally runs Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with varying weekend availability.
  • Additional hours may be available for sports-related transportation.
  • Compensation is $20/hour for driving time and $12/hour for waiting time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate designated routes according to a set schedule.
  • Maintain awareness of traffic patterns and adhere to all traffic regulations.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers during transit.
  • Provide information regarding schedules, routes, and transfer points.
  • Report any accidents or traffic disruptions to the supervisor and follow alternative route instructions as necessary.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities or those requiring additional support.
  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance checks, including tires, lights, and oil levels.
  • Comply with all state and federal transit regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a dedicated Christian with a strong understanding of the Gospel and a commitment to the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; actively involved in a church community and known for integrity and high moral standards.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a clean driving record.
  • Current CDL with P-endorsement is required.
  • A minimum of three years' experience driving a designated route.
  • Willingness to participate in extended field trips, overnight events, and weekend travel as needed throughout the year.
  • Experience in urban driving is preferred.
  • Ministry experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
