JOB PURPOSE:
The Sourcing Specialist is accountable for aiding in the execution of new procurement contracts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the appropriate selection and acquisition of materials, products, and services to meet the requirements of Artera. The position involves managing local vendors and collaborating with user groups to promote standardization to optimize expenditure. The Sourcing Specialist will negotiate, resolve issues, and secure the best overall value for the organization with suppliers at both local and national levels. This includes issuing Purchase Orders, tracking PO Acknowledgments, and addressing any discrepancies in pricing and quantities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates purchase requisitions for precision and adherence to guidelines, issuing Purchase Orders in accordance with company policies.
- Conducts sourcing activities to ensure compliance with Delegation of Authority (DOA). Gathers and assesses quotations, negotiates optimal pricing and terms with suppliers, and recommends vendors based on cost, quality, and delivery efficiency.
- Initiates purchase orders for required goods and services, providing updates on delivery changes as necessary.
- Independently manages and prioritizes workload on a daily and weekly basis.
- May involve occasional travel to suppliers, internal sites, and project locations.
- Engages with current and potential suppliers to assess supply capabilities, logistics, and inventory management; negotiates pricing and delivery conditions with guidance from the regional procurement lead.
- Addresses discrepancies related to product quantity and quality with suppliers.
- Supports the implementation of new procurement agreements or processes in the field.
- Collaborates closely with field teams to identify emerging needs and contribute to solution development.
- Aids the supplier/vendor manager in preparing and developing quarterly business reviews and key performance indicators.
- Interacts with all departments within the organization to resolve supply issues and works towards standardizing products and best practices in materials management.
- Regularly informs business leaders about cost and budgeting implications while documenting cost savings and efficiencies.
Education and Certifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related discipline, or 7-10 years of progressive experience in Procurement/Supply Chain.
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in natural gas utilities or pipeline construction is advantageous, with direct supplier interaction.
Functional / Technical Competency Requirements
Required: Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels. Ability to foster relationships within the organization and with clients/customers. Strong analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, v-lookups, and pivot tables. Quick to learn and effectively utilize new software applications.
Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in purchasing.
