POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Inspector is primarily tasked with overseeing the work of contractors to ensure adherence to quality standards and contractual obligations. This role is essential in various construction and renovation projects involving electrical systems, including facilities, roadways, and structures of varying complexity. The inspector plays a critical role in managing all aspects of construction inspection, often dealing with intricate traffic management, environmental considerations, and coordination with various stakeholders such as property owners and utility companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and analyzing plans and specifications related to active construction contracts.
  • Alerting project engineers or supervisors to any constructability concerns or discrepancies in plans.
  • Supervising daily contractor operations to ensure compliance with established plans and specifications.
  • Addressing contractor inquiries regarding plan and specification requirements.
  • Identifying and discussing any contractor methods that deviate from the plans with the contractor and project engineers.
  • Conducting measurements and observations to ensure accurate tracking of completed work quantities.
  • Preparing detailed field drawings or electronic templates to support calculations for pay quantities.
  • Monitoring the need for material testing and understanding applicable testing frequencies.
  • Completing Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) to document pay quantities, material needs, and contractor personnel.
  • Documenting all project activities through photography.
  • Assisting in the preparation of quantity estimates and construction cost assessments.
  • Engaging with the project team in client meetings to address project-related issues.
  • Fostering a culture of safety within the construction environment.
  • Demonstrating flexibility to work as required to meet project demands.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree in Construction Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing.
  • Relevant construction certifications or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a background check.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Competence in preparing and maintaining records, reports, and correspondence related to the role.

COMPENSATION
The estimated compensation range for this position is $21.53/hr to $33.45/hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual compensation will depend on various factors including education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and work location.
