Position Overview

A-V Services Inc., a prominent provider in the Audio-Visual sector, is currently seeking an Audio-Visual Break-Fix Technician. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service abilities, particularly in supporting corporate clients, alongside extensive knowledge in audio-visual technology. A minimum of an Associate's degree in a technology-related discipline or three years of relevant experience in AV support is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement AV system flow diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot AV equipment failures, identifying root causes and resolving issues related to integrated AV systems.
  • Utilize Crestron Toolbox and demonstrate familiarity with Crestron DM, Extron, and Cisco systems.
  • Possess knowledge of Bi-Amp and Clearone, with the capability to modify Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
  • Experience with integrated telepresence and videoconferencing installations.
  • Perform basic tool operations, lift light equipment, and work from step ladders as necessary.
  • Exhibit comprehensive understanding of various AV components, including:
    • Projection systems and display technologies
    • Crestron control systems and conference scheduling tools
    • Switching, routing, and interfacing technologies
    • Videoconferencing and audio-conferencing solutions

Essential Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Technical AV certifications, such as CTS, are advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general PC usage.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with Control and DSP programmers for program reloading.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. unassisted and transitioning between client locations.
  • Experience in wiring and rewiring AV equipment for maintenance and replacement.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting and commercial IT networks for LAN/WAN, including VoIP products and PBXs like Nortel, Avaya, Cisco, NEC, ShoreTel, and Mitel.
  • Knowledge of operating systems including XP, Win7, W10, and Mac OS, as well as networking protocols.
  • Ability to research networking issues and installation challenges, and manage product returns with vendors as needed.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in servicing and/or installing AV systems in a client-facing role, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving and troubleshooting.
