POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves maintaining cleanliness in Dining Services, ensuring all equipment is sanitized, and performing various tasks as outlined below.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee the setup and functioning of the dishwashing area, including all related equipment such as dish machines and pot washers. Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  2. Refill milk urns, ice bins, and water coolers, and replace soda/beverage tanks as necessary.
  3. Conduct sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and mopping of floors throughout the facility as needed or assigned. Perform daily cleaning of all designated equipment and areas.
  4. Clean exhaust hoods and filters as required or assigned.
  5. Assist with the infirmary cart as needed.
  6. Support the proper receiving and storage of food and non-food items.
  7. Help with the delivery, setup, and staffing of catered events as assigned.
  8. If assigned to the Spa, responsible for stocking beer and wine.
  9. Daily grease filtering as assigned.
  10. Assist in sanitizing dishes and polishing silverware, as well as washing walls, ceilings, and baseboards.
  11. Engage with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  12. Perform custodial tasks as assigned within dining halls and the Spa.
  13. Demonstrate the ability to set up, clean, and operate all necessary equipment.
  14. Additional cleaning and food preparation duties may be assigned by a supervisor.
  15. Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and colleagues.
  16. Show a willingness to learn and adapt to new ideas.
  17. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  18. Establish and uphold a high standard of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operational manuals.

MATH SKILLS

Capability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written or verbal form. Capable of addressing problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS

Completion of Serv-Safe/HACCP training within one year of employment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, and frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is typically moderate to loud.

  • Understand the proper use of chemicals in the performance of duties and be familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Overtime or weekend work may be required with minimal notice.
