Position Overview:
The Safety and Security Officer is tasked with ensuring a secure and safe environment for all individuals within the hospital premises and Malta Med Emergent Care.

Key Responsibilities:


Conducts regular patrols of hospital facilities and grounds to prevent criminal activities and report any hazardous conditions in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.

Responds promptly to all emergency codes as outlined in hospital protocols. Aids in managing disorderly or combative individuals during emergencies, prioritizing actions as necessary.
Implements traffic and parking regulations as specified in the parking management plan. Issues citations for parking violations on hospital property when required.

Ensures a safe atmosphere for patients, staff, visitors, and organizational property as per departmental guidelines.

Assists drivers by facilitating calls for lockouts, tire changes, battery jumps, etc.
Keeps accurate records for lost and found items; informs individuals when their belongings are recovered. Adheres to departmental procedures for securing firearms and other prohibited items when necessary.

Responds to internal requests for assistance, unlocking doors for authorized personnel as per departmental protocols.

Provides escort services as needed. Facilitates emergency transport for staff, laboratory specimens, and medical equipment.
Maintains a daily log of all activities and responsibilities during scheduled shifts. Documents any unusual incidents, unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and fire hazards.

Demonstrates proficiency in the use of hospital computerized systems, including but not limited to the Access Control and CCTV systems.

Handles admissions and discharges from the morgue.
Assists with helicopter transport operations. Monitors behavioral patients. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience in military, law enforcement, security, or a closely related field is required. Experience in healthcare security is highly preferred.

In lieu of experience, an Associate's degree or enrollment in a degree program in criminal justice or a related field is required.

A valid and clean NYS driver's license is mandatory. Must be eligible to drive under the hospital's auto insurance policy. Candidates must be at least 21 years old.

Completion of the Eight-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course for Security Guards is necessary for employment and to become a registered Security Guard with the N.Y. State Division of Licensing Services within six months of hire. Must complete TEAM Essentials & Advanced de-escalation training, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) training within 30 days of hire. Must fulfill any additional training requirements set by the hospital.

Compensation:
$31.82 per hour. Pay Grade: 22. Compensation may vary based on overall experience, qualifications, shift, and location.
