About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team at Townsend Corporation. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Management
    • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with leadership to investigate incidents and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Training and Development
    • Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety protocols and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain training materials, including instructional aids and visual aids.
    • Partner with external training providers to deliver specialized training programs.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with contract and regulatory safety and training specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Provide leadership and guidance to employees on safety-related matters.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety initiatives.
    • Communicate safety information and updates to employees and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School Diploma, HSE, or GED.
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of experience in line clearance, tree trimming, or a related field in a leadership position.
  • Certifications
    • Certified Tree Worker Safety Professional (CTSP) or ability to obtain within one (6) months of employment.
  • Skills
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards and DOT requirements.
    • Ability to work within Union and Non-Union workforce.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to problem solve and think critically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education
    • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field.
  • Language
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Certifications
    • CDL.
    • MED Card.
