Position Summary:
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for upholding food safety and quality assurance programs within the facility. This role involves executing tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately to enhance the overall performance of the plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR), and customer satisfaction. The specialist will exemplify the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement in-plant procedures to ensure compliance with Kroger Manufacturing's food safety and quality standards, including level 3 SQF system requirements
- Oversee the maintenance and compliance of SQF systems through effective monitoring and reassessment processes
- Act as the primary contact for SQF certification bodies during audits
- Conduct annual in-house SQF self-audits to evaluate program status and participation
- Maintain an action register to track audit follow-ups
- Ensure timely food safety training for employees with proper documentation
- Provide leadership and guidance on identified risks that may affect food safety or quality
- Complete project-related tasks as assigned by senior quality leadership
- Adhere to established programs and policies to produce safe, quality food that meets regulatory and company standards
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of SQF 2000 Systems
- Accountable for adherence to Kroger Manufacturing's Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Able to accurately record testing data
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others and communicate issues
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of microbiology and experience in a food production environment
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, or a related field
