Overview
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is a dynamic organization that combines career and volunteer efforts, consisting of around 750 employees and 800 active volunteers. Serving a diverse population located 30 miles northwest of Washington, DC, we provide a comprehensive range of emergency and non-emergency services to approximately 425,000 residents across a 520 square mile area. Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Coordinator (BHC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the various elements of the Department's behavioral health initiatives.
Under the guidance of the Senior Behavioral Health Coordinator (SBHC), the BHC will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
1. Identify necessary resources and coordinate referrals for behavioral health services for affected System members.
2. Collaborate with community providers and the County's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to enhance service delivery and education.
3. Serve as a case manager when required.
4. Facilitate ongoing preventive stress management training.
5. Engage with System members at their work sites regarding behavioral health concerns.
6. Provide peer support and Chaplain services.
7. Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.
8. Offer administrative assistance to the Senior Behavioral Health Coordinator and support the management of the Behavioral Health program. Act as a substitute for the Senior Behavioral Health Coordinator during their absence.
9. Perform other essential functions specific to the department as needed.
This role may require occasional evening and weekend work.
Salary will be determined based on experience.
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline; a minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience, preferably with public safety populations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates must fulfill mandatory licensure requirements as specified by the Virginia Board of Licensing, which governs clinical counseling and psychotherapy practices. Applicants must hold and maintain one of the following Virginia licenses: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC); Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Certification as a Certified Addictions Counselor (CSAC) is preferred.
Employment Conditions and Special Requirements
Candidates must pass background checks, including criminal history, fingerprinting, and DMV checks.
Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 within one (1) year of employment is mandatory.
This position may require occasional evening and weekend work and is subject to call status during emergency situations, which may involve frequent meetings and notifications while off duty.
