Overview

The Inn at Little Washington, renowned for its exceptional dining and hospitality, is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of an Expediter. This position is pivotal in ensuring seamless communication between the front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) operations, contributing to the overall success of our culinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the pass with daily garnishes to enhance presentation.
  • Efficiently expedite all savory orders during service, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Chef regarding order status and kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with the Proprietor to optimize service efficiency.
  • Monitor ticket times and relay information to chefs as needed.
  • Organize and assemble appropriate plates and service ware for service.
  • Review and update daily menus to reflect current offerings.
  • Create culinary cards to communicate essential kitchen information to the dining room staff.
  • Develop a dietary restriction sheet for the culinary team.
  • Prepare end-of-shift snacks for dining room employees.
  • Document and track special guest requests in the company system.
  • Coordinate with culinary managers regarding special menus and ensure all preparations are in place.
  • Foster positive communication with other departments to enhance service quality.
  • Effectively communicate game plans during service to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in training junior dining room staff on service protocols and professionalism.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pass and culinary equipment areas.
  • Participate in the breakdown of kitchen operations at the end of service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Essential

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Servsafe certification is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of the culinary brigade system.
  • Positive attitude and approachability for team members.
  • Desire for continuous improvement in culinary operations.

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for culinary arts.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Ability to remain composed and focused in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for addressing service-related issues.
  • Proactive and positive attitude towards teamwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods (8-10 hours).
  • Willingness to work in environments with varying temperatures and potential hazards.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours as required.
