Position Overview
This role is pivotal within the organization, directly reporting to the Chancellor. The Chief Human Resources Officer is entrusted with the stewardship of human resources initiatives that are vital for the success of both students and staff within the District. As the principal human resources executive, this esteemed position is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, administration, and evaluation of comprehensive initiatives that comply with federal and state regulations, institutional policies, and collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advocacy for Diversity and Inclusion: The Chief Human Resources Officer will lead efforts to promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility throughout the District, ensuring that all individuals feel welcomed and valued.
  2. Effective Communication and Negotiation: This role requires exceptional communication skills, enabling engagement with a variety of stakeholders. The Chief Human Resources Officer will act as the chief negotiator for labor agreements, overseeing contract administration and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  3. Collaboration and Relationship Building: The successful candidate will cultivate partnerships within and outside the organization, serving on various committees and representing the District at relevant meetings and conferences.
  4. Strategic Leadership: The Chief Human Resources Officer will develop a forward-thinking vision for the Human Resources Department, aligning it with the broader goals of the organization and implementing innovative programs to enhance organizational capacity.
  5. Professional Development Initiatives: This position involves designing and overseeing comprehensive professional development programs aimed at fostering continuous learning and career advancement for all staff.
  6. Integrity and Ethical Standards: The Chief Human Resources Officer will uphold the highest ethical standards, demonstrating transparency and accountability in all actions.
  7. Policy Compliance and Governance: This role includes ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to human resources management, providing leadership in personnel matters, and participating in policy development.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of three years of management experience in human resources or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds of community college employees and students.
