Position Overview

Havtech is in search of a dedicated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Systems Commissioning Specialist. This role involves supporting the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection/detection (MEP/FP/BE) systems within substantial commercial and institutional projects. The position will also encompass assistance in construction oversight and inspections related to MEP/FP/BE systems, covering both renovation and new construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly reviewing and comprehending MEP/FP/BE plans and specifications.
  • Monitoring the advancement of construction projects.
  • Conducting hands-on inspections and evaluations of installed systems.
  • Identifying and documenting deficiencies observed during site visits.
  • Tracking and recording construction progress meticulously.
  • Assisting in resolving on-site challenges.
  • Creating commissioning-related documentation, including checklists, test plans, and reports.
  • Performing commissioning tests on installed systems.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates with relevant construction or field experience are encouraged to apply, with emphasis on practical experience over formal education.
  • Familiarity with the architecture/engineering and construction sectors is preferred. Experience in engineering, commissioning, or construction inspection is ideal, though entry-level candidates will be considered.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MEP/FP/BE systems (including HVAC, building automation, power, lighting, plumbing, building envelope, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems) is preferred, but training will be provided for entry-level applicants.
  • Awareness of relevant codes and industry best practices is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with the ability to maintain detailed written records of daily activities.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring high-quality work output.
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools, meters, monitoring equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic work environment that may vary daily.

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Successful candidates will need to pass a background check and obtain necessary clearances.
  • Comfort with active construction sites is required, including the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain or confined spaces. Some projects may involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Travel Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% is preferred.
