Brooksource is seeking a knowledgeable Electric System Maintenance Specialist to join our client's Electric Transmission System Protection Team in the Richmond, VA region. The selected individual will act as the primary on-site representative for the installation, upkeep, protective relaying schemes, communication systems, SCADA components, and other Operational Technology systems utilized by our client.

We are looking for a candidate with substantial expertise and field experience to effectively comprehend and analyze intricate engineering design documents related to the systems mentioned above. If your qualifications align with the following requirements, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Understanding of Transmission System Operations, Substation, and Distribution System Protection methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of protection protocols for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and substation apparatus.
  • Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Distribution Management Systems (DMS).
  • Familiarity with SCADA components.
  • Understanding of NERC Standards.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in various tasks during construction projects related to protection and control systems.
  • Conduct installation and commissioning activities.
  • Post-installation, assist with maintenance tasks as outlined by the maintenance program of each business area.
  • Maintenance of protection systems involves activities designed to meet regulatory standards and enhance system reliability.
