Position Overview

Job Title: Lead Child Care Assistant

Salary: $20.43-$25.00/hour DOE

Location: Kodiak, AK

Work Schedule: Full Time

About the Role:

The Lead Child Care Assistant serves as a pivotal member of the caregiving team, taking charge of planning, developing, and executing educational programs tailored to the needs of children. This role involves collaborating with fellow staff to create enriching early childhood experiences that foster emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of age-appropriate curricula and activities.
  • Facilitate a nurturing environment that encourages positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
  • Organize and conduct engaging activities for participants, ensuring adherence to approved child guidance techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation and complete necessary reports.
  • Prepare and manage both indoor and outdoor activity spaces to support daily programming.
  • Supervise children in various settings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist in providing nutritious snacks and meals as needed.
  • Conduct health checks and monitor the physical needs of children.
  • Engage with parents to assess children's needs and provide support for developmental challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with parents through newsletters and conferences.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
  2. One year of experience working with children in a group setting.
  3. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Two years of post-secondary education in relevant fields or a vocational certificate in childcare.
  2. Demonstrated leadership experience in a childcare setting.
