Position Overview
This role involves delivering specialized speech language therapy services and family support for eligible children from birth to three years of age within the Kodiak Island Borough.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Aligning with the organization's mission and quality standards, fostering a culture of holistic service delivery.
  • Upholding the organization's ethical standards by engaging in professional conduct that reflects integrity and respect.
  • Providing speech language therapy in natural settings, addressing specific needs outlined in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for assigned families.
  • Implementing strategies to enhance children's communication skills, focusing on developmental milestones such as babbling, talking, and understanding language.
  • Identifying children with communication disorders and facilitating referrals for necessary medical or therapeutic interventions.
  • Offering training and support to families to empower them in fostering their child's speech and language development.

Family Service Coordination
In the capacity of Family Service Coordinator (FSC), responsibilities include:

  • Completing necessary intake and consent documentation.
  • Gathering medical histories and coordinating evaluations with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conducting family assessments to identify concerns and resources.
  • Facilitating the creation and monitoring of the IFSP, ensuring goals align with the child's needs and family priorities.
  • Coordinating early intervention services and assisting families in accessing additional resources.
  • Ensuring timely updates to the IFSP based on ongoing assessments of the child's progress.
  • Assisting with transition planning for children approaching age three, collaborating with local educational and community partners.
  • Completing required Child Outcomes Measures (COS) and managing case management activities.

Collaboration and Community Engagement
For clients not under FSC, participation in local multidisciplinary teams is expected, including conducting developmental evaluations for children aged 0-36 months and providing screening services.

Engagement in team meetings and community outreach activities, such as health fairs, is also a vital aspect of this role.

Supervisory Role
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
