Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute engaging early childhood education experiences that promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
  • Work with the director and teachers to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that meet the needs of our children.
  • Establish a program environment that fosters positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
  • Assist in providing and leading planned activities for program participants, including arts and crafts, outdoor play, and educational programs.
  • Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
  • Interact professionally with staff members, parents, and the command to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Assist in maintaining program participation data and completing required daily reports.
  • Help prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.
  • Monitor children in the classroom, on the playground, in hallways, and restrooms to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in arranging for and serving snacks and meals as needed.
  • Perform routine care-giving tasks, including receiving children, interacting with children, and attending to their physical needs.
  • Ensure care is provided in accordance with standards, assist in planning and conducting activities, conduct health checks, and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of general experience working with children in a group program, preferably in a childcare or education setting.
  • Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry 45+ pounds, walk, bend, and stoop, and stand on a routine basis, including sitting and rising from the floor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of education above the high school level, including 12-semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary, secondary, or special education, child or youth development, psychology, human development, youth program administration, or related behavioral sciences.
  • One year of vocational certification in childcare.
