Position Purpose:
The Department of Physics, Geology, and Engineering Technology is establishing a pool of qualified adjunct instructors capable of teaching courses in physics or astronomy. This posting is intended to gather applications for potential teaching roles, rather than for a specific position.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching duties encompass the following:
  • Laboratory Instruction: (1) Develop a syllabus and lab schedule in collaboration with the course coordinator and lecture instructor, (2) Prepare and dismantle lab equipment before and after each session, (3) Supervise and assist students during lab activities, (4) Evaluate student submissions, and (5) Record grades in the Canvas learning management system.
  • Lecture Instruction: (1) Create a syllabus and schedule that aligns with course objectives in consultation with the course coordinator and program director, (2) Coordinate with lab instructors regarding scheduling and grading criteria, (3) Conduct classes as per the timetable, (4) Assign and assess homework, (5) Design and grade examinations, (6) Utilize the Canvas learning management system, and (7) Maintain attendance records and submit mid-term and final grades punctually.
  • General Availability: Instructors are expected to be accessible for at least one hour per week outside of scheduled class times to address student inquiries.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following minimum educational credentials:
(1) A Master's degree
(2) A minimum of 18 credit hours in physics or astronomy coursework, or equivalent professional experience.

All candidates selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
