PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Strategic Business Development Lead is tasked with cultivating and nurturing relationships within the influencer sectors (Architecture & Design, Commercial Real Estate, and General Construction) to enhance brand visibility and uncover business prospects. This role focuses on qualifying and facilitating the closure of lucrative contracts with new clientele. By employing a strategic sales approach, the individual aims to deliver an exceptional client experience, which is fundamental to our esteemed reputation. The primary objective is to utilize networking and relationship-building skills to identify and qualify fresh business opportunities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop, implement, and execute a strategic plan aimed at targeting and successfully acquiring specific new accounts. Maintain active engagement and relationship-building within the local Commercial Real Estate, Architecture and Design, and General Construction sectors.
  2. Formulate market strategies and tactics to enhance brand recognition and attract new clients.
  3. Lead the strategic pursuit of opportunities: identify, strategize, present, resolve, and secure.
  4. Deliberately cultivate a network of relationships (both immediate and long-term) that generate value and leads within targeted markets. Foster strong partnerships with key vendors.
  5. Proactively showcase capabilities, products, and service solutions.
  6. Support the bid response process for generated opportunities.
  7. Develop and execute forecasts to meet annual opportunity and overall financial objectives.
  8. Maintain clear and timely communication with account teams and clients regarding potential business developments.
  9. Research, identify, qualify, and target prospective clients while devising strategies for initial contact.
  10. Build and sustain relationships at the executive level, gaining insights into prospective clients' corporate cultures and effectively communicating these insights to relevant team members to support business acquisition.
  11. Utilize creativity and independent judgment in crafting and assessing sales and marketing strategies to promote our extensive portfolio of products and services within defined markets.
  12. Develop and direct the sales strategy concerning competitive landscapes, initial opportunity pursuits, and territory development.
  13. Represent the company at market, community, and industry events, collaborating with marketing, sales, and leadership teams to plan and execute sponsored initiatives.
  14. Engage actively in industry boards and associations.

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

INTERNAL: Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless workflow and flawless execution.

EXTERNAL: Engage with clients, vendors, network dealers, business partners, contractors, and other industry professionals to maintain positive working relationships and ensure flawless execution.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of the office furniture industry
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Industry experience in Commercial Real Estate, Furniture, Architecture + Design, and/or General Construction
  • Business-to-business sales skills utilizing a strategic selling process
  • Design knowledge/experience
  • Basic understanding of CRM or other industry-specific applications
  • Negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital selling tools

DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of general sales or business development experience

5+ years of industry experience engaging with industry influencers or serving as a vendor representative

Proven ability to uncover leads and identify opportunities to expand the sales funnel

Demonstrated success in relationship building and strategic selling
