Director of Development

USC Marshall School of Business is seeking a seasoned professional to join its External Relations team as a Director of Development. This key role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift relationships within an assigned geographic region, with a focus on cultivating and soliciting gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the university.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a portfolio of major gift relationships within an assigned geographic region
- Research, identify, and cultivate potential major gift donors to support the USC Marshall School of Business
- Develop and execute sophisticated, donor-centered solicitation strategies for major gift prospects
- Plan long-range, multi-step engagement strategies to build relationships with donors
- Collaborate with academic leadership, faculty, and other gift officers to cultivate and steward donors
- Meet or exceed assigned annual and monthly goals for face-to-face visits, solicitations, successful gift closures, and dollars raised
- 7+ years of experience in major gifts development for a school, hospital, or similar institution
- Demonstrated persistency and ability to cultivate and close on major gifts
- Ability to professionally form and leverage relationships with top prospects, engage key constituents, and secure significant gifts through effective relationship management
- Exceptional active listening skills, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Team orientation, natural inclination toward collaboration, and willingness to mentor colleagues
- Goal-oriented and results-driven, with a passion for transformative power of higher education and business schools
- Competitive salary range: $122,000 - $170,000
