Job Title: Histotechnician Specialist

Job Summary:
Essentia Health is seeking a skilled Histotechnician Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for processing and preparing pathology and cytology specimens for pathologist and cytotechnologist interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:
Process and prepare pathology and cytology specimens, as defined by CLIA, for pathologist and cytotechnologist interpretation.
Perform routine and special staining procedures, IHC and ISH, Mohs and routine frozen sections as required in the diagnosis, treatment and management of pathologic conditions on patients of all ages.
Develop problem-solving skills, participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control monitoring, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Education Qualifications:
Graduate of NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program
OR
Successful completion of 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology (clinical, veterinary, industry or research) laboratory in the U.S., Canada or an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years
OR
An associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), AND 1 year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology (clinical, veterinary, industry or research) laboratory in the U.S., Canada or an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.

Shift Rotation: Day/Eve Rotation
Hours Per Pay Period: 80
Compensation Range: $29.23 - $42.98 / hour
Union: USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH)
FTE: 1
Weekends: Occasional
Call Obligations:
Sign On Bonus: $5,000
