Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our team at Essentia Health. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in preparing pathology and cytology specimens for pathologist and cytotechnologist interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and prepare pathology and cytology specimens according to CLIA guidelines.
  • Perform routine and special staining procedures, including IHC and ISH, Mohs, and routine frozen sections.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Education Qualifications

A graduate of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program or successful completion of 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry, and one year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory.

OR an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry, and 1 year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

ASCP Certification as Histotechnician (HT) is required.

Job Location and Shift Information

This position is located at Building B - St Marys Medical Center and requires a Day/Eve Rotation schedule.

Hours per pay period: 80.

Compensation range: $42.98 per hour.

Union: USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH).

FTE: 1.

Weekends: Occasional.

Call Obligations: None.
