Histotechnician Specialist

Job Title: Histotechnician

At Essentia Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our patients. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission by processing and preparing pathology and cytology specimens for pathologist and cytotechnologist interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and prepare pathology and cytology specimens according to CLIA guidelines.
• Perform routine and special staining procedures, including IHC and ISH, Mohs, and routine frozen sections.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Education Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in histotechnology. You must have:

• A graduate degree from a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program.
• Successful completion of 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry, and one year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory.
• An associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry, and one year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Candidates must possess:

• ASCP Certification as Histotechnician (HT).

Work Environment:

This position is located in Building B at St. Marys Medical Center and requires a Day/Eve Rotation schedule. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong problem-solving skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates, a wage range of $29.23 - $42.98 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits package.
