Job Title: Histotechnician

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our team at Essentia Health. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by processing and preparing pathology and cytology specimens for pathologist and cytotechnologist interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and prepare pathology and cytology specimens for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform routine and special staining procedures, including IHC and ISH, Mohs, and routine frozen sections.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Education Qualifications:

We require a graduate of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program or successful completion of 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry, and one year full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.

Alternatively, an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry, and 1 year full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.

  • ASCP Certification as Histotechnician (HT)
