POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role presents an exceptional opportunity within a dynamic, mission-oriented biotech firm that has recently launched a groundbreaking treatment for the predominant category of pediatric brain tumors, specifically pediatric low-grade gliomas. We are in search of a Senior Vice President of Medical Strategy who will serve as a strategic ally to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to enhance the value proposition of the organization.

The Senior Vice President will oversee and cultivate a robust Medical Affairs division, which encompasses a field-based Medical Science Liaison team and an internal strategic operations unit. This individual will engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including counterparts in Research & Development, Commercial, and Legal, to define and implement comprehensive strategies. This is a remarkable chance to be a key player in advancing Day One's Medical Affairs initiatives and to make a significant impact on the landscape of both adult and pediatric oncology drug development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and continuously enhance the Medical Affairs function to support the clinical development and market introduction of both existing and new products.
  • Manage and nurture a high-performing Medical Affairs team and associated support functions.
  • Establish, refine, and implement operational processes and procedures that align with the overarching guidance for the development organization.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the portfolio of products and the therapeutic areas in which Day One operates.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team to maximize their impact in adult and pediatric oncology and neuro-oncology.
  • Refine the medical information function to ensure prompt responses to inquiries while adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Ensure the medical review and approval of promotional materials are conducted effectively.
  • Provide strategic direction for Health Economics/Outcomes Research, Reimbursement, and Market Access initiatives.
  • Collaborate with R&D leaders to assess proposed research concepts and protocols for investigator-initiated studies.
  • Continuously update and execute lifecycle management plans.
  • Engage with Key Opinion Leaders to gather insights on therapeutic area issues and facilitate connections with internal teams.
  • Drive the development of educational materials for healthcare providers and patients that are medically accurate and appropriate.
  • Represent Day One Biopharmaceuticals at conferences and industry events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD degree is required.
  • A strong background in biopharmaceuticals with significant experience in a high-achieving Medical Affairs group, particularly in oncology.
  • At least 20 years of experience in Medical Affairs, including product launch and commercialization experience.
  • A minimum of five years in a leadership role within a key Medical Affairs function.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead a cross-functional Medical Affairs department.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • A commitment to ethical standards and a desire to contribute to innovative solutions for serious health challenges.
