Position Title: Childcare Program Supervisor

Role Overview:

The Childcare Program Supervisor is tasked with the oversight and management of a designated site, ensuring the effective development, execution, and assessment of childcare programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate a nurturing and secure environment that aligns with the objectives of the Child Care Programs; promptly inform the Program Director or Assistant Program Director of any issues.
  2. Adhere to all relevant state licensing requirements, Department of Public Instruction standards, and Young Star guidelines; complete necessary training, including Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Training, and comply with mandatory child abuse reporting protocols.
  3. Maintain daily attendance records and ensure the safety and whereabouts of all children at all times.
  4. Establish clear behavioral expectations and guidelines to ensure a safe atmosphere.
  5. Review and understand all pertinent information contained in each child's file.
  6. Ensure the program area is safe, tidy, and conducive to both active and quiet activities; arrange the program space to include at least five distinct interest zones.
  7. Act on requests and information provided by support staff as noted in meeting minutes or other communications.
  8. Check the site’s voicemail daily and maintain a communication log for messages received from parents.
  9. Regularly check mailboxes for important information.
  10. Foster effective communication with school staff, particularly with principals and custodians.
  11. Welcome parents and children each day.
  12. Disseminate information to parents as necessary; display updates at the parent information table.
  13. Create an environment that accommodates a diverse range of activities and interests.
  14. Supervise and engage with children to support their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  15. Ensure adherence to the Child Guidance policy.
  16. Document daily snack counts and items served, adjusting menus as needed.
  17. Maintain accurate attendance records for all children.
  18. Date and initial schedules and payment records.
  19. Record monthly safety drills.
  20. Ensure all necessary paperwork and record-keeping materials are available on-site during operational hours.
  21. Responsible for the opening and closing of the site.
  22. Manage the collection and return of snack supplies as required.
  23. Notify the Assistant Program Director regarding any discrepancies in snack supplies.
  24. Ensure adequate supplies are maintained at the site (e.g., utensils, cleaning materials, etc.).
  25. Participate in staff meetings and other YWCA gatherings as required.
  26. Stay informed about YWCA goals, mission, and programs.
  27. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; advanced education in Early Childhood Education, CDA, Elementary Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in group activities and program planning.
  • Ability to meet licensing requirements set by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Registry level 10 with 6 credits in supervision or financial management coursework for Site Supervision; Registry Level 7 or higher for Group Leadership.
  • Capability to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork among staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; approachable and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making, with a collaborative approach for the benefit of the organization.

Work Schedule: Split morning and afternoon shifts, primarily during the day with occasional evening and weekend duties as needed.

Compensation: NON-EXEMPT, Part-time with benefits for 20 or more hours per week.
