Position Title: Child Care Program Supervisor

Organization Overview

Role Overview

The Child Care Program Supervisor is tasked with aiding in the planning, execution, oversight, and assessment of activities at a designated site.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate a nurturing and secure environment for children, ensuring adherence to the mission of the Child Care Program; promptly notify the Program Director or Assistant Program Director of any issues.
  2. Adhere to all relevant state licensing standards, Department of Public Instruction protocols, and Young Star guidelines; complete necessary training on Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention and child abuse reporting every two years.
  3. Maintain daily attendance records and be aware of each child's location at all times.
  4. Establish clear guidelines and expectations to ensure children's safety and promote positive behavior.
  5. Review all pertinent information in each child's file.
  6. Ensure the program area is safe, clean, and conducive to both active and quiet activities; arrange the program space to include at least five distinct interest zones.
  7. Act on requests and information from support staff as noted in communications.
  8. Check the site’s voicemail daily and document messages received from parents or through voicemail.
  9. Review organizational mailboxes for updates and information.
  10. Foster communication with school staff, particularly principals and custodians.
  11. Welcome parents and children each day.
  12. Disseminate information to parents as necessary; display updates at the parent information table.
  13. Create an engaging environment that caters to a variety of activities and interests.
  14. Supervise and engage with children to support their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  15. Ensure compliance with the Child Guidance policy.
  16. Track snack inventory and adjust menus as needed.
  17. Maintain accurate attendance records for children.
  18. Date and initial schedules and payment records.
  19. Document monthly safety drills.
  20. Ensure all necessary paperwork and materials are available on-site during program hours.
  21. Oversee the opening and closing of the site.
  22. Manage the collection and return of snack supplies as required.
  23. Notify the Assistant Program Director regarding any discrepancies in snack supplies.
  24. Ensure adequate supplies are maintained at the site.
  25. Participate in staff meetings and other organizational gatherings as required.
  26. Stay informed about YWCA’s goals, mission, and programs.
  27. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in group activities and daily program planning.
  • Ability to meet licensing requirements set by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Registry level 10 with six credits in supervision or financial management coursework for Site Supervision; Registry Level 7 or higher for Group Leadership.
  • Capability to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork among staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; warm and approachable demeanor.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making, with a collaborative approach for the benefit of the organization.

Supervisor: Child Care Director

Work Schedule: Split morning and afternoon shifts, primarily during the day with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
