The Childcare Assistant is a vital member of the YWCA Rock County, Inc. team, responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children aged 5-12. This role requires a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to providing exceptional childcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development in children.
- Support the Child Care Supervisor in ensuring the smooth operation of the childcare program, including attendance, lesson planning, and daily tasks.
- Maintain a positive and respectful relationship with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ensure the childcare environment is safe, clean, and comfortable for all children.
- Collaborate with the Child Care Supervisor to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a positive and inclusive childcare environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other YWCA events as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree in child development or a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting.
- Completion of 10 hours of training in the care of school-age children or equivalent, as approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
- CPR and AED certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to work a split morning and afternoon shift, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Discounted childcare services for YWCA staff members.
