Systems Technology & Research, Inc. is in search of a Model-Based Systems Engineer (Embedded Systems) to collaborate with the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center. This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site presence two to three days a week for essential meetings. This position provides a unique opportunity to engage in the dynamic field of engineering next-generation combat vehicles, working closely with government stakeholders on both manned and unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, vehicle electronics, and ground vehicle simulation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize engineering expertise in interdisciplinary research initiatives for ground combat vehicles, leveraging knowledge in embedded systems development, computer vision, machine learning, and autonomous navigation to aid in the development and testing of optionally manned systems for the Department of Defense.
  • Establish and maintain direct communication with clients, emphasizing the importance of relationship management; candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and be effective communicators.
  • Demonstrate experience in embedded systems development, encompassing various engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes to create vehicle system and subsystem architectures.
  • Lead projects or sub-projects, engaging with clients to analyze and break down complex platform requirements into structured engineering components across multiple disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or scientific field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies such as SysML, DoDAF, and UPDM.
  • Experience with military electronics systems, including subsystem and system-level testing and integration, along with leadership roles in substantial projects.
  • Familiarity with Deterministic and Non-Deterministic Data Bus Architectures, such as CAN Bus and Ethernet.
  • Capability to perform Functional Decomposition and Capability Development to create new architectures.
  • Experience in integrating and developing data networks that span multiple layers of information security (Classified/Unclassified).
  • Ability to formulate and implement system-level project plans.
  • Experience with tools such as MagicDraw and Cameo.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools, including IBM Rational Doors.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical engineering managers, system/software architects, software developers, and non-technical program managers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in process development and improvement management (CMMI).
  • Knowledge of legacy military hardware and software systems.
  • Understanding of Time Sensitive Networks.
