Systems Technology & Research, Inc. is in search of a Model Based Systems Engineer (Embedded Systems) to contribute to the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center. This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring in-office presence for two to three days weekly to facilitate essential meetings. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage in the dynamic field of engineering for next-generation combat vehicles, collaborating closely with government clients on both manned and unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, vehicle electronics, and ground vehicle simulation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize engineering expertise in multidisciplinary research initiatives for ground combat vehicles, leveraging knowledge in embedded systems development, computer vision, machine learning, and autonomous navigation to support the development and testing of optionally manned systems for the DoD S&T communities.
  • Establish and maintain direct customer relationships, emphasizing the importance of being personable, knowledgeable, and an effective communicator.
  • Demonstrate experience in embedded systems development, encompassing various engineering processes, methodologies, and development lifecycles to create vehicle system and subsystem architectures.
  • Lead programs or sub-projects, engaging with clients to analyze and decompose complex platform requirements into structured and manageable engineering components across multiple disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a relevant engineering or science discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies such as SysML, DoDAF, and UPDM.
  • Experience with military electronics systems, including subsystem and system-level testing and integration, along with leadership roles in significant projects.
  • Familiarity with Deterministic and Non-Deterministic Data Bus Architectures, including CAN Bus and Ethernet.
  • Capability to perform Functional Decomposition and Capability Development methods for new architecture development.
  • Integrate and develop data networks that span multiple layers of information security (Classified/Unclassified).
  • Formulate and execute system-level project plans.
  • Experience with tools such as MagicDraw and Cameo.
  • Proficient in requirements management tools, including IBM Rational Doors.
  • Strong communication skills with technical engineering managers, system/software architects, software developers, non-technical program managers, end users, and military leadership.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in process development and improvement management (CMMI).
  • Knowledge of legacy military hardware and software systems.
  • Familiarity with Time Sensitive Networks.
