The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for crafting innovative electro-mechanical designs that ensure the functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of electrical systems in heavy-duty vehicles.

This role involves conducting engineering analyses and designing or redesigning electrical systems and subsystems for both existing and new vehicle models.

The engineer will also provide support for the integration and execution of vehicle control and embedded systems development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned, adhering to industry standards and processes, including the creation of one-line schematics that illustrate mechanical, electrical, and thermal connections.
  • Possess a solid understanding of electro-mechanical power systems, components, and concepts, including generator sizing and component placement.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of high voltage systems and the associated safety protocols.
  • Estimate and calculate available power and vehicle loads with limited data.
  • Assist senior engineers in the development of plans, designs, computational methods, and reporting.
  • Manage a project or a segment of a project with limited complexity.
  • Potentially oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with other engineering or business support teams internally, as well as with external suppliers as necessary.
  • Provide support to engineers, designers, or technicians on shared projects to ensure adequate space for wiring, thermal management, and mounting of components on vehicles, utilizing installation manuals and design experience.
  • Oversee the design and integration of electrical components and circuitry into heavy-duty vehicles, with a focus on understanding vehicle powertrains and related systems.
  • Offer technical assistance during prototype, pilot, or production builds, including troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three (3) or more years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in designing thermal management systems is advantageous, though not required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and control software.
  • Knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.
  • Experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair or design.
  • Experience in wire harness design.
