Overview

The Mortgage Banker plays a crucial role in building and nurturing connections with Renasant Bank Branch Managers, real estate agents, and construction professionals within a specified territory. The primary goal is to drive the production of various residential mortgage products, including conforming, conventional, FHA, and VA loans, as well as any new offerings that may arise. This position acts as the key facilitator in the mortgage lending process while ensuring effective collaboration with the mortgage operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Originate a diverse range of residential mortgage loans for 1-4 family units.
  • Set and maintain written objectives in partnership with the Mortgage Banking Department.
  • Oversee loan production across the designated service area.
  • Keep an updated status report on all active loan applications.
  • Provide monthly updates on outreach efforts to banks, realtors, and builders.
  • Engage with the Mortgage Banking department to relay program modifications or updates to branch staff.
  • Advise potential borrowers on suitable loan products based on their needs.
  • Arrange meetings to complete loan applications at convenient locations for clients.
  • Collect necessary documentation for mortgage closings promptly and maintain a comprehensive status report of all loans.
  • Assist clients in addressing closing contingencies.
  • Prepare Good Faith Estimates and Truth-In-Lending disclosures within 72 hours of application submission.
  • Provide realtors with weekly updates on loan progress when applicable.
  • Educate branch personnel on conforming loan requirements and customer service best practices.
  • Foster relationships with the local real estate community by regularly contacting realtors, builders, and legal professionals.
  • Conduct market surveys to stay informed about local trends.
  • Identify priority accounts and maintain regular visits to their offices.
  • Lead seminars for local realtors and new team members on various lending topics.
  • Engage actively in local organizations related to mortgage loan production.
  • Adhere to all relevant state and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
  • Participate in production meetings as required by management.
  • Maintain necessary licenses and certifications.
  • Work autonomously in an external sales environment, requiring reliable transportation.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Proven ability to originate residential mortgage products for 1-4 family units.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FHLMC/FNMA, FHA, VA, and general mortgage banking practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a friendly demeanor towards the public.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Professional representation of Renasant Bank, embodying a customer-focused approach.
  • Capacity to work independently and make informed decisions in line with regulatory standards.
  • Reliable transportation is essential for fulfilling job responsibilities.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this position include the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, kneel, stoop, or squat, and utilize hands for various tasks. Occasional walking and lifting up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Vision capabilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment
