Position Overview

The selected candidate will play a crucial role within an Agile Team in the Delivery Services Group, contributing to the design, assessment, and deployment of cloud-centric solutions across various software applications and integrated systems. This Agile Team is expanding to support a significant cloud-computing initiative for government clients. The candidate will engage with a diverse application portfolio developed in technologies such as C#/.NET, Java, NodeJs, Python, and Go, focusing on enhancing and migrating these applications to leading cloud environments including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

In this role, the candidate will thrive in an Agile development setting, utilizing a range of DevSecOps tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes. A solid understanding of cloud-computing principles is essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with potential application migration clients within the government sector. The candidate will also be expected to prepare and deliver technical presentations to both small and large groups as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing tools like Terraform or Azure Bicep, along with provider-specific IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation templates for automated infrastructure provisioning.
  • Configure cloud networking components, including subnets, routing tables, and security protocols.
  • Assess existing on-premises infrastructure and applications to determine migration needs; document current and target architectures and develop compute and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to the formulation of a cloud migration strategy, incorporating lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or other refactoring methodologies.
  • Plan and execute data migration processes, ensuring data integrity and minimal service disruption.
  • Design, construct, and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Automate the deployment, scaling, and monitoring of applications within the cloud environment.
  • Implement best practices for security in cloud infrastructure, including encryption, identity and access management, and network security, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications

Essential Education and Experience:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the capability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant software development experience, or a Master's degree with at least three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience/Certifications in AWS and/or Azure.
  • Familiarity with the Agile Software Development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of software design and implementation principles.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL database principles, with experience in database design and query creation.
  • Collaborate closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless cloud operations and promptly address any issues. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for processes and standards across the team.
  • Respond to and resolve cloud infrastructure incidents and issues.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for cloud infrastructure and applications.

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in both Linux and Windows development environments, as well as standard IDEs such as Visual Studio and Eclipse/NetBeans, along with command line tools.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in building cloud applications and hands-on expertise in creating IaC for automating infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong skills in Unix and Shell Scripting, with the ability to build pipelines and automate the execution of Terraform modules and associated workload deployments using native cloud CI/CD platforms or tools like Jenkins.

Desired Skills:

  • Certifications in Terraform and Docker/Kubernetes.
  • A strong development background in building Java or .NET-based web applications.

Compensation: Target salary range is $80,001 - $120,000, reflecting typical salary expectations based on experience and other factors.
