POSITION OVERVIEW

The Pipefitter role is vital to the operations of EMCOR Government Services. This position demands adherence to all safety protocols and collaboration with team members on a daily basis. The Pipefitter will operate under the supervision of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the job site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential to this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Utilize tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders to cut, thread, and shape pipes according to specifications.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and associated equipment by employing welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading techniques.
  • Install pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on installed systems and pipelines utilizing pressure gauges and hydrostatic testing methods.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading accurately.
  • Prepare openings in structures for pipe installation using hand and power tools.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems and related equipment according to established specifications.
  • Install automatic controls for regulating pipe systems.
  • Operate valves to manage the flow of water or other gases and liquids.
  • Replace worn components as necessary.
  • Provide cost estimates for clients as required.
  • Assess work sites for potential obstructions and ensure structural integrity.
  • Operate pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
  • Apply protective coatings to nonferrous piping materials to prevent erosion.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with the construction industry and relevant documentation.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Experience operating forklifts and scissor lifts.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction software.
  • Experience with project management and document control software.
  • Knowledge of construction and financial software packages.

  • Occasionally lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment may include:

  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
