POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pipefitter role is vital to the operations of EMCOR Government Services. This position requires adherence to all safety protocols and collaboration with team members on a daily basis. The Pipefitter will operate under the supervision of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the specific job site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are essential to this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:
- Utilize tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders to cut, thread, and shape pipes according to specifications.
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications through welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
- Affix pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding apparatus.
- Conduct inspections and tests on installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and observational methods.
- Measure and mark pipes for accurate cutting and threading.
- Prepare holes in structures for pipe installation using hand and power tools.
- Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems and related equipment in accordance with specifications.
- Install automatic controls for regulating pipe systems.
- Operate valves to control the flow of water or other gases or liquids.
- Replace worn components as necessary.
- Prepare cost estimates for clients.
- Assess work sites for potential obstructions and ensure structural integrity.
- Utilize motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
- Apply protective coatings to nonferrous piping materials to prevent erosion.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with the construction industry and related documentation.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Experience operating forklifts and/or scissor lifts.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required. Familiarity with AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction software is advantageous.
