POSITION OVERVIEW

The Pipefitter role is vital for the operations at EMCOR Government Services. This position requires adherence to all safety protocols and collaboration with team members on a daily basis. The Pipefitter will operate under the supervision of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the work assignment's location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential to this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Cut, thread, and shape piping to meet specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and associated equipment according to specifications through welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
  • Affix pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, including radiators or tanks, utilizing brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  • Inspect and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and other methods.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading accurately.
  • Drill and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads and walls, prior to pipe installation using hand and power tools.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems and related equipment following specifications.
  • Install automatic controls for regulating pipe systems.
  • Operate valves to control the flow of water or other gases or liquids.
  • Replace worn components as necessary.
  • Prepare cost estimates for clients effectively.
  • Assess work sites for obstructions and ensure structural integrity during installations.
  • Utilize motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
  • Coat nonferrous piping materials to prevent erosion or galvanic action.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this position, the individual must demonstrate proficiency in each essential duty. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • High School Diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with the construction industry and related documentation.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience operating a forklift and/or scissor lift.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction software.
  • Experience with project management and document control software.
  • Knowledge of construction and financial software packages.
