Operations Management Trainee Role

We're seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Operations Management Trainees. As a key member of our operations team, you'll assist operations managers at various locations across our company. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, gain experience, and grow your career in operations management.



Job Responsibilities

As an Operations Management Trainee, your responsibilities will include:




  • Assisting operations managers in various locations across our company
  • Developing foundational knowledge in major areas of our business and industry, including commercial driving, dispatching drivers, operations scheduling and routing, sales, and customer service
  • Collaborating with regional managers, terminal managers, corporate staff, terminal staff, and drivers to plan operations that exceed customer expectations
  • Working in different operations, roles, and locations to gain a broad understanding of our business
  • Developing leadership skills and contributing to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment


Management Development Program

We offer a comprehensive Management Development Program that includes:




  • Leadership mentorship: Participants will meet with a leadership mentor once a week to discuss program experiences and receive guidance
  • Industry training: Participants will rotate through key passenger transportation industry technical functions to gain hands-on experience
  • Peer learning: Participants will participate in a facilitated discussion group with peer program participants to share experiences and learn from one another
  • Management development: Participants will receive training on all manager topics, delivered by GO Riteway executives


Phase 1 - Industry Technical Training (12-24 months)

During Phase 1, participants will develop foundational knowledge in major areas of our business and industry, including:




  • Commercial driving
  • Dispatching drivers
  • Operations scheduling and routing
  • Sales and customer service


Phase 2 - Operations Leadership Assignments (12-36 months)

During Phase 2, participants will assume lead roles in operations, without direct reports, in areas such as:




  • Driver instructor
  • Dispatcher
  • IT projects
  • Safety projects
  • Training projects
  • Interim management roles
  • Special projects


Phase 3 - Small Operations Management (24 months minimum)

During Phase 3, participants will be eligible to be promoted to an assistant manager or small operational manager position, with direct responsibility and accountability for employees and operational results.



Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:




  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or 3 years of business experience in roles that demonstrate progressive responsibility and growth
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements within 60 days in position and maintain throughout employment
  • Good working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new software programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to other company locations for the large majority of the time, wherever the operational need is the greatest
  • Desire to develop a management career at GO Riteway


Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include:
