Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neurodiagnostic Technologist I to join our team at Advocate Health. This role requires a strong background in neurodiagnostics and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and maintain competency in electroencephalograms, portable inpatient EEGs, ambulatory EEG monitoring, and other neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare patients for exams and perform procedures, gathering comprehensive patient histories and explaining test procedures to patients and family members.
  • Recognize and document patient or environmental artifacts, taking proper measures to monitor and eliminate them.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair or report them to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform clerical duties, including scheduling procedures, archiving studies, and charge entry.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in neurodiagnostics or similar direct patient care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids or other unpleasant fumes or hazards.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, twist, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present.
