About the Role

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist II is responsible for gathering diagnostic data from specific neurological examinations for physician interpretation. This involves extracting pertinent data and information from patient charts and family members to assist physicians in interpreting the data acquired.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality neurodiagnostic testing in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Obtain pertinent patient history from patient/parent/caregiver/chart.
Apply electrodes in proper positions, check the integrity of the application, and calibrate as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

Record EEG data with standard montages for adult/pediatric/neonatal patients as appropriately determined. Modify montages as necessary for patient diagnosis or per physician instructions.
Recognize artifacts and troubleshoot to eliminate artifacts. Document any changes in patient condition/events while recording EEG data. Mark any potential abnormalities.
Participate in departmental activities to improve/maintain patient satisfaction (AIDET, service recovery, new initiatives).
Participate in company initiatives as appropriate.
Maintain daily statistics/log of departmental activity.
Prepare physician documentation.
Ensure that an appropriate procedure report is completed and in patient record.
Ensure reports are faxed to the referring doctors.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies in the department.
Appropriately store supplies in the department.
Inform the manager/supervisor of any special department needs.
Keep work area/department/equipment clean and orderly.
Keep work area safe and notify manager/supervisor of any safety concerns.
Complete online safety event reports when needed.
Maintain equipment in optimal working order.
Contact Bio-Med or Building Operations as needed.
Maintain working knowledge of all departmental equipment.
Complete all Advocate mandatory education.
Participate in 70% of team meetings.
Review current literature and stay up-to-date with changes in EEG technology field.
Participate in departmental/hospital-wide projects and activities as assigned.

Requirements

High school education and 1-2 years formal EEG training or experience.
Eligible to sit for the EEG board exam.
