Position Summary: This role is designed to support the United States Coast Guard as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, focusing on the Business and Logistics Management Support Services office. The Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (MBB) will be instrumental in guiding Government LSS Black Belt and Green Belt candidates through their improvement projects, ensuring their successful completion and certification when appropriate. The MBB will implement strategies for process development, monitoring, and enhancement across various locations, adhering to Lean Six Sigma best practices. Furthermore, the MBB will design and deliver training sessions on Lean Six Sigma and Continual Process Improvement (CPI) fundamentals, as well as advanced facilitation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and support Government LSS Black Belt and Green Belt candidates in their Lean Six Sigma improvement initiatives.
  • Certify the successful completion of candidate improvement projects as necessary.
  • Facilitate the implementation of process development, monitoring, and improvement strategies across multiple locations.
  • Develop and deliver training for Government personnel in Lean Six Sigma and CPI fundamentals (e.g., 'Yellow Belt') and advanced facilitation training.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of technical data.
  • Plan and lead improvement working sessions.
  • Interpret acquisition policies, regulations, and directives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Business Management, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt from a recognized certifying authority, preferably the Department of Defense or American Society for Quality.
  • Certification as a Scrum Master from an accredited agency or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Associate certification may be required.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in executing Lean Six Sigma improvement projects post-certification.
  • Expertise in planning and facilitating improvement working sessions.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced practices from Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and other improvement methodologies, with the ability to develop and deliver training in these areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Skilled in conducting detailed research and analysis of technical data.
  • Ability to interpret acquisition policies, regulations, and directives.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience working with the United States Coast Guard in a business or performance-related capacity.
  • Experience in supporting organizational improvement and realignment initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
