This full-time position for the Vice President of Corporate Finance and Development Accounting is based at EAH Corporate. This role allows for a hybrid work environment. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline, with a minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity within a large, multi-location organization, preferably in the affordable housing sector. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years of experience in direct staff supervision. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $270,000 annually, with a hiring range for new employees typically between $135,000 - $202,500, depending on experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vice President of Corporate Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight of the accounting and treasury functions for EAH entities, including LLCs, corporations, and subsidiaries, as well as the development and construction of properties across various regions. This role supervises the financial operations of both the development and corporate accounting teams, ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules in compliance with GAAP and/or GAAS for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any findings or recommendations.
  • Manage complex accounting processes and implement regulatory guidance effectively.
  • Supervise cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities for corporate entities and development projects.
  • Collaborate with executive and senior management across various departments, such as Operations, IT, and Development, to provide strategic guidance and ensure alignment for decision-making and business growth.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting software and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Lead the integration of acquired or new business into the company's financial systems, identifying opportunities for scalability.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecasts, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and enforce effective accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Mentor and lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Stay informed on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, recommending necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • Participate actively in EAH's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise the Controller and accounting staff, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures. Provide guidance and support to staff, promote performance recognition, and ensure timely completion of performance appraisals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, with a minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large, multi-location organization, preferably in affordable housing. A minimum of 5 years of experience in direct staff supervision is required.

DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the construction, LIHTC, or nonprofit sectors is advantageous. CPA certification is preferred.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS

EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who receive a conditional job offer. Candidates must submit to and pass these checks as part of the employment process.

DRUG TESTING

EAH Housing requires all candidates who receive a conditional job offer to undergo drug testing within 72 hours of acceptance. Satisfactory completion of drug testing is a requirement of employment.
