KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the press operator on the floor by aligning, sizing, and cutting materials to specified lengths.
  2. Ensure that forging dies are kept free from oxide and other contaminants.
  3. Organize and relocate press rags and scrap materials to designated areas.
  4. Prepare and mark materials being pressed or straightened.
  5. Facilitate the movement of finished products to the appropriate locations.
  6. Maintain essential logs, charts, and documentation related to the pressing operations.
  7. Oversee and verify the work of the charger operator to ensure correct materials are being processed.
  8. Maintain accurate identification of materials undergoing forging.
  9. Operate the charger in the absence of the designated operator.
  10. Manage the press and associated equipment when the press operator is unavailable.
  11. Assist with setup and maintenance tasks as required.
  12. Keep the work area clean and organized.
  13. Identify and report any irregularities, defective materials, or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must pass IME screening.
  • Ability to utilize shop mathematics and interpret complex specifications, charts, and tables.
  • Proficient in using precise gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of alloy properties and metallurgy, equivalent to 2-3 years of trade training.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and training until proficient in all forging practices.
  • Must be qualified to perform the duties of all other operating personnel.
