KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Collaborate on the production floor to assist the press operator in aligning, sizing, and cutting materials to specified lengths.
* Ensure that forging dies are free from oxide and other contaminants.
* Organize and transport press rags and scrap materials to designated areas.
* Prepare and mark materials undergoing pressing or straightening processes.
* Ensure that finished products are relocated to the appropriate zones.
* Maintain accurate logs, charts, and documentation related to the pressing operations.
* Supervise and verify the work of the charger operator to ensure correct materials are being processed or loaded.
* Uphold proper identification of materials being forged.
* Operate the charger in the absence of the designated operator.
* Manage press and related equipment when the press operator is unavailable.
* Assist with setup and maintenance tasks as required.
* Keep the work environment clean and organized.
* Identify and report any irregularities, defective materials, or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
ADDITIONAL TASKS:
* Undertake other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Successful completion of IME screening is required.
* Proficient in shop mathematics and capable of interpreting complex specifications, charts, and tables.
* Skilled in using precise gauges and measuring instruments.
* Basic understanding of alloy properties and metallurgy, equivalent to 2 to 3 years of vocational training.
* Commitment to ongoing learning and training until proficient in all forging practices.
* Must be qualified to perform the duties of all other operational staff.
