KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the press operator on the production floor by ensuring materials are squared, sized, and cut accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness of forging dies, ensuring they are free from contaminants.
  • Organize and transport press rags and scrap materials to designated areas.
  • Set up and clearly mark materials undergoing pressing or straightening processes.
  • Ensure finished products are moved to the appropriate storage locations.
  • Keep accurate logs, charts, and documentation related to pressing operations.
  • Oversee the work of the charger operator to guarantee the correct materials are being processed.
  • Maintain proper identification of materials during the forging process.
  • In the absence of the charger operator, take on their responsibilities.
  • In the absence of the press operator, operate the press and related equipment.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance tasks as required.
  • Keep the work area organized and free of hazards.
  • Identify and report any defects or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other tasks as assigned or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must successfully pass IME screening.
  • Ability to apply shop mathematics and interpret complex specifications.
  • Experience using precise measuring instruments and gauges.
  • General understanding of alloy properties and basic metallurgy, equivalent to 2-3 years of trade training.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and training until proficient in all forging practices.
  • Must be capable of performing the duties of all other operational personnel.
