Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience and a valid PE license.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Professionals in this role will conduct engineering calculations and are expected to design and layout systems in compliance with established policies, standards, and codes, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to leverage practical knowledge and experience to address challenges and conflicts related to assigned projects is essential. Independent decision-making for engineering tasks is expected.
  • Occasional supervision of junior personnel or collaboration with other engineers or designers may be required.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and other relevant building regulations is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial.
  • Leadership abilities to guide clients on design and project requirements are important.
  • Engagement with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, timelines, budgets, site issues, and design review matters is expected.
  • Collaboration with Project Manager and Project Engineer to prepare design budgets and schedules is required.
  • Estimating man-hours necessary to fulfill project design requirements is part of the role.
  • Providing leadership and assigning design tasks to designated designers while overseeing their progress to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion is essential.
  • Implementation of system types as determined by the Project Engineer and provision of comprehensive construction documents that align with client and project team needs is expected.
  • Reviewing preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for functionality, clearances, coordination, and final design selection is required, along with a final review of engineering drawings.
  • Maintaining client communication is essential.
  • Conducting quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer is necessary.
  • Mentoring and motivating Engineering designers at various levels is expected.
  • Upholding high standards of professional integrity while seeking the best interests of the company and clients is crucial.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring quality design is necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of sitting and/or standing for extended periods, managing stressful situations, and multitasking. Ability to work under time constraints is essential, and long hours may be necessary. The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the role. Work Environment:

Must be able to manage stressful situations, multitask, and work within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets. The position typically involves working in a standard office environment, with occasional requirements to work outside of normal office settings.
