Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience and a valid PE license.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Professionals in this role will conduct engineering analyses and must be proficient in designing and laying out systems according to established policies, standards, and codes, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Applicants should leverage their practical knowledge and experience to address challenges and conflicts related to assigned projects, demonstrating independent decision-making capabilities for engineering tasks.
  • Occasional supervision of junior staff or collaboration with other engineers or designers may be required.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and general building regulations is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to guide clients on design and project specifications.
  • Engage with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to review design scope, timelines, budgets, site challenges, and design evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to develop design budgets and schedules.
  • Estimate the man-hours necessary to fulfill project design requirements.
  • Provide direction and assign design tasks to designated designers, overseeing their work to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Implement system types as determined by the Project Engineer and produce comprehensive construction documents that align with client and project team expectations.
  • Review preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for functionality, clearances, coordination, and final design choices, ensuring thorough review of engineering drawings.
  • Maintain client communication.
  • Conduct quality assurance on projects in conjunction with the technical manager or project engineer.
  • Mentor and inspire Engineering designers at various levels.
  • Establish high standards of professional integrity while prioritizing the interests of the company and clients.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring high-quality design output.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of sitting and/or standing for extended periods, managing stressful situations, and multitasking. The role may require working under time constraints, and long hours may be necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Overtime (40+ hours) may be required as needed.

Work Environment:

Ability to handle stress, multitask, and work within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets is essential. The position will primarily be in a standard office environment, with occasional requirements to work outside the office.
