Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience and a valid PE license.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Professionals in this role will conduct engineering calculations and are expected to design and layout systems in compliance with established policies, standards, and codes, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates should leverage their practical knowledge and experience to address challenges and conflicts related to assigned projects, demonstrating independent decision-making capabilities.
  • Occasional supervision of junior personnel or collaboration with other engineers or designers may be required.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and general building regulations is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective client interactions and project discussions.
  • Leadership skills are vital for guiding clients on design and project requirements.
  • Regular meetings with the Project Engineer and Project Manager will be necessary to review design scope, timelines, budgets, site issues, and design evaluations.
  • Collaboration with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to develop design budgets and schedules is expected.
  • Estimating the man-hours required for project design tasks is part of the role.
  • Providing leadership and delegating design tasks to designated designers while ensuring timely project completion within budget constraints is crucial.
  • Implementing system types as determined by the Project Engineer and delivering comprehensive construction documents that align with client and project team expectations is required.
  • Reviewing preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for functionality, clearances, coordination, and final design selection is essential, along with a final review of engineering drawings.
  • Maintaining client relationships is a key aspect of the role.
  • Conducting quality assurance on projects in collaboration with the technical manager or project engineer is necessary.
  • Mentoring and motivating Engineering designers at various levels is expected.
  • Upholding high standards of professional integrity and prioritizing the best interests of the company and clients is essential.
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring quality design is critical.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
