Position Overview:
Under the guidance and oversight of the healthcare provider and departmental leadership, the Healthcare Support Specialist is tasked with a blend of clinical and administrative responsibilities. This role is essential in preparing patients for their appointments, assisting healthcare professionals in delivering quality care, and ensuring that service areas, equipment, and supplies are well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
This position also encompasses various clerical and scheduling tasks that align with the operational needs of the department.

Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.

Experience Requirements:
1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, ideally within a physician's office or outpatient hospital environment. A minimum of 1 year in a secretarial or administrative role, with familiarity in medical terminology.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association. Nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification/Registration is preferred, or a valid Vermont State LNA License.

Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in reporting patient care observations and any deviations from the patient's care plan under the direct supervision of a provider or licensed nursing staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Moderate proficiency in basic computer operations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Understanding of infection control practices.
- Venipuncture skills are advantageous.

Compensation:
Competitive differential rates: $4.20 for Evenings, $8.00 for Nights, and $4.70 for Weekends. Pay range: $24.17.
