Job Summary

Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for encounters, assisting clinicians in delivering care, and maintaining service areas, equipment, and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction and supervision of the provider and department leadership, perform clinical and administrative duties to prepare patients for encounters.
  • Assist clinicians in the delivery of care, maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction and safety.
  • Maintain service areas, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
  • Perform general clerical and scheduling duties in conjunction with department operations.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant program preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 Years Medical Assistant experience, preferably in physician practice or hospital outpatient services setting.
  • 1 year of secretarial or administrative experience, including medical terminology.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
  • Current nationally accredited Medical Assistant Certification/Registered, or Current Vermont State LNA License.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Ability to report patient care observations, deviations from patients plan of care and other pertinent information under the direct supervision of a provider or licensed nursing staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge of infection control.
  • Venipuncture skills desirable.
