About the Role

The Rutland Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting wellness, recovery, and supporting individuals in achieving their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient support by relating empathetically with individuals in the process of managing/recovering from mental illnesses or substance abuse.
  • Attend meetings with providers as requested, help patients identify their strengths, and assist patients in averting crisis.
  • Participate in de-briefing patients following a restraint or crisis event.
  • Provide emotional support, give individuals hope, and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) training to be completed within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience coaching others with mental health or substance abuse issues in a therapeutic environment.
  • Peer Specialist Certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Vermont's mental health system and knowledge of state, regional, and local resources.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $22.32 per hour, with competitive differentials rates for evenings, nights, and weekends.
